An Engineer’s Guide to CNC Turning in India
CNC Turning
CNC Turning is a complex
and comprehensive process of using a lathe to create custom parts and
components. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) turning is a highly skilled
process where product bars are placed in a chuck and rotated as a tool is fed
into the piece to remove material to create the desired form. The process of
turning allows the generation of complex external geometries and internal
bores.
Why use CNC Turning in projects?
Deccan Engineering Works
CNC machining service will produce both plastic and metal machined parts in
less time than it takes to get a quote from other, more traditional machine
shops. Upload a CAD file select the quantity of material and component, and
tell us when the parts are needed. In order to support your project we also
offer a number of CNC related secondary services. We offer CNC turning centers
combining cutting-edge technology, efficiency, and value. A wide range of
system configurations are available to meet your production requirements,
ranging from 2-axis models to turning centers with rotary tool spindle, Y-axis
and second spindle.
CNC Turning Center operations
There are many operations that can be done on a lathe, and
even more on a turning center. Here are some of the most common:
Facing
Facing operations are performed at the end of a component to
create flat surfaces.
Threading
Operations of threading create external or internal threads
on one side.
Knurling
Knurling operations are used on cylindrical surfaces to
create a regularly formed roughness.
Drilling
Drilling is one of the most basic operations used to create
workpiece holes.
Boring
Boring requires the expansion of a hole or cavity to create
inner circular grooves.
Reaming
Reaming operations include sizing the current holes and
finishing them.
Taper Turning
During
taper turning, the workpiece's diameter is gradually decreased over the part's
duration.
CNC Turning Applications
Industries for removing metal: Metal
removal industries extract metal from the raw material in order to provide it
with the required specifications. These can be the automotive industries where
the shafts, gears and many other parts are made. To make the different oval,
square, rectangular, threaded and other work, it can be manufacturing
industries.
Industries for Fabricating Metals: In
many industries thin plates like steel plates are required for various
purposes, in fabrications industry the machining operations are performed on
such plates. The CNC machines are used for specific machining operations in these
industries, such as shearing, fire or plasma cutting, punching, laser cutting,
shaping and welding, and many other applications.
Electrical Discharge Machining
(EDM) Industry: The EDM devices extract the metal by producing the
sparks that melt the metal. In CNC automation, there are two types of EDM –
Vertical EDM and Wire EDM.
Other Industries where CNC machines
are used: CNC machines are also commonly used in the wood industry
to perform various operations such as routing (similar to milling) and drilling.
Numerous lettering and engraving devices also use CNC technology. CNC machines
such as CNC coil winders and CNC terminal position and soldering machines are
also available for the electrical industry.
